One sheet of paper laid the foundation for technical inspections in all of Europe. On January 6, 1866, 22 businessmen from Mannheim in Baden signed a document stating that they supported the plan to create an “Association for Inspecting and Insuring Steam Boilers.”

Historian Stephan Paetrow followed in the historic footsteps of TÜV SÜD and gathered original documents about the company´s history from archives all over Germany. He explains the significance of having the list of participants who attended the meeting on January 6, 1866.
